Accessibility Statement

BlueNova Insurance Agency is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continuously improve the user experience for everyone.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA β€” Target Conformance
We aim to meet all Level AA success criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1

Our Commitment to Accessibility

BlueNova Insurance Agency believes that everyone deserves access to clear information about their insurance options β€” regardless of ability or disability. We are committed to making our website accessible to individuals with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.

We view accessibility not as a checkbox, but as an ongoing commitment to inclusive design. Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the international standard for web accessibility.

Measures We Have Taken

To support our accessibility commitment, we have implemented the following measures:

Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements β€” links, buttons, forms, and dropdowns β€” are fully operable via keyboard alone. Tab order follows logical page flow.
Screen Reader Support
We use semantic HTML5 elements, ARIA labels, and live regions to ensure compatibility with screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Color Contrast
Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 (normal text) and 3:1 (large text) as required by WCAG 2.1 AA.
Resizable Text
All text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. Our layout adapts gracefully to user font size preferences.
Alternative Text
All meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes so screen readers skip them.
Focus Indicators
Visible focus indicators are present on all interactive elements, making keyboard navigation predictable and easy to track.
Reduced Motion
We respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Users who have indicated a preference for reduced motion will see minimal animations.
Form Accessibility
All form fields have associated labels, error messages are clearly announced to screen readers, and required fields are identified programmatically.
Skip Navigation
A "skip to main content" link is available to keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation and reach page content directly.
Responsive Design
Our site works across all screen sizes and orientations, including mobile devices. Pinch-to-zoom is never disabled.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we acknowledge that some areas of our website may not yet fully meet all success criteria. Known areas where we are actively working to improve include:

  • Some older PDF documents linked from our site may not be fully accessible. We are working to remediate or replace these documents.
  • Third-party embedded content (such as maps and social media widgets) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards. We are evaluating alternatives for these components.
  • The live chat widget is keyboard-accessible but may have limited screen reader support in some older assistive technology combinations.

We are actively addressing these limitations and expect to resolve them in upcoming updates. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our site, please let us know immediately.

Supported Assistive Technologies

Our website has been designed and tested to work with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Magnification software: ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom
  • Voice control: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Windows Speech Recognition, macOS Dictation
  • Switch access and alternative input devices

We test our site on the following browser and screen reader combinations: NVDA + Firefox, JAWS + Chrome, VoiceOver + Safari (macOS), and VoiceOver + Safari (iOS).

Applicable Standards

BlueNova Insurance Agency uses the following standards and guidelines to inform our accessibility work:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA β€” Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act β€” U.S. federal standards for electronic and information technology accessibility
  • ADA Title III β€” Americans with Disabilities Act requirements for places of public accommodation, as interpreted to include websites by the Department of Justice
  • ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) β€” W3C technical specification for enhancing HTML semantics for assistive technologies
